He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Blackerby; and his brother Richard Schweitzer (Rick). He is survived by: his wife Joan Schweitzer; his father Thomas Eugene Schweitzer; his daughters, Cynthia Muniz-Schweitzer (Ruben) and Stephanie Schweitzer; and his stepdaughters, Tammy Myers (Steve) and Sherry Lyons (John Numerous). He is also survived by Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
