He was predeceased by: his brother Erwin K. Hipp; and his daughter-in-law Laura Anne Hipp. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hipp; his sons, Daniel Hipp and Mark Hipp (Cynthia); his sister Mary Ann Hipp; and his grandchildren, Julia Hipp, John Hipp (Megan), Maxwell Hipp and Benjamin Hipp.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
