He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Chappell, Sr. and Nancy Riley Chappell; his wife Sara Dee Outz Chappell; his daughter Linda Brooks; his son-in-law Stanley Brooks; and his siblings, Roy Chappell, Jr., Shirley Brown, Jerry Chappell, Wayne Chappell, Sharon McCollum, Kerry Chappell and Terry Chappell.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sherry Dove (Sam) of Canon and Debbie Richey (Ron) of Baldwin; his grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds, Elizabeth Hipp (Nathan), Kristy Daniels (Phillip), Dana Moore (Andrew), Jennifer Schie (Tom) and Brittany Harris (Justin); his great grandchildren, Dylan, Porter, Sophia, Ethan, Fletcher, Sadie, Asa and Griffin; and his sister Connie Brewer (Jimmy) of Athens. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
