He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Christine Raines and William Hardy Mathis; his wife Nancy Mathis; and his siblings, Michael Mathis, Danny Raines and Carolyn Brown.
He is survived by: his daughters, Miranda Womack (Brian) and Christie Dixon; his siblings, William Mathis (Cathy), James Lewis Mathis and Frankie Wilson (Kenneth); his grandchildren, Jordan Dupree, Eric Dupree, Lexi Dupree, Britney Dixon, Alexander Dixon, Jasmine Dixon and Kai Dixon; and also Tim Reid. He is also survived by several friends and other relatives.
