We are sad to announce that on October 26, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Mattie Jean Stokes of Calhoun, Georgia, born in Dalton, Georgia. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of Mattie Jean Stokes to show support.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Patterson Campbell and Mattie Lou Stone Campbell; her children, Linda Jean Lathem and Tommy Eugene Stokes; and her siblings, Oscar Campbell and Melvena Morehead.

She is survived by: her children, Marlene Plancon (Bill), Charlotte Phipps (Eddie), Rev. Larry Wells (Carolyn), Gary Wells (Sandra), James Jr. Stokes (Pam), David Stokes (Jan) and Sidney Stokes; and her sister Margaret Cline (Earnest). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

“In loving memory of Mattie Jean Stokes, Where do I begin to pay tribute to this wonderful Lady. We met at a campground and those evenings sitting around a fire with an overfull stomach from a pot luck dinner, prepared mostly by Mrs. Stokes, and sharing stories were the BEST! I could always count on a hug and a hello Suugarr and a Good-Nite Hon anytime we were together. Her talents were many. I cherish my beautiful afghan she hand made with love. She worked hard, and loved easy. Farewell for now”
