He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest C. Avery and Mollie Rich Avery; and his brother George Avery. He is survived by: his wife Edna Waits Avery; his sons, Jimmie C. Avery Jr. (Debra), Richard Avery (Selena) and Howell Avery (Amber); and his stepchildren, Pamela Lindsey, Franklin Holland, Bobby Hogg and Sammy Holland. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
