He was predeceased by: his parents, J. E. Petty and Velma Cronon Petty; his wife Mary Ann Jones Petty; his brother-in-law Johnny Silvers; and his granddaughter Christina Phillips.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Petty (Joy), Tony Petty (Leah), Richard Garcia-Petty (Augie) and Marie Phillips; his brother Harvey Petty (Connie); and his grandchildren, Harmony Petty, Michala Petty, Hunter Petty, Abe Perez, Bentley Garcia, Brielle Garcia and Blake Garcia.
