He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur D. Garrett and Agnes Lorena Garrett (Bright); his brothers, Arthur L. Garrett and Hurdle Thomas Garrett; his sister-in-law Faye Garrett (Simmons); and his nephew Bob Harvey.

He is survived by: his nieces, Judith Goins (Dave) of Georgia, Pat Harvey of Georgia, Vickie Warren (Steve) of Georgia and Kim Ellis of Georgia. He is also survived by 5 great-nieces and nephews, 17 great-great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great-great nieces.
