He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Thompson and Thelma Phillips Thompson; his granddaughter Eunice Ruth Thompson; and his brothers, Jim and Donnie Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Dempsey; his children, Peyton Amos (Gary) of Statham, GA, Kim Russell, Gregory P. Thompson, Jr. (Kelly), Matthew Thompson (Torey) of Somerset, KY and Dustin Thompson of Winder, GA; his siblings, Peggy Tanner of Rome, Connie Beasley of Rome, Ronnie Thompson of Crestview, FL, Dan Thompson of Pontotoc, MS and Buck Thompson; and his grandchildren, Ansley, Gregory "Trey" Thompson, III, Ezekiel, Esther, Ezra, Eve, Enoch Thompson, Eden, Dallas Russell, Vanessa Davidson (Cody), Jacquelyn Brooks, Victoria Scoggins, Douglas Simmons (Tamara), Samantha Simmons, Zachary Simmons, Kaitlyn, Joey and Deanna Thompson. He is also survived by several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
