He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Cowart and Louise Smith Cowart; his siblings, Mary Kinsey, Marjorie "Margie" Thompson, Pauline "Polly" Southard, Harold Cowart and Tommy Cowart; and his children, Greg Cowart of Calhoun, Dwight Cowart of Douglasville, Gene Jr. "Bobby" Cowart of Rome and Deborah "Debbie" Demonia.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Cowart of Rome. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
