He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis W. White and Clara Black White; his former wife Agnes Marie Thomas; his wife Peggy Elaine Brown; his siblings, Evyn D. White, Eleanor White Wilson and Avis White Mills; and his stepchildren, Robin Brown, James Brown Jr. and Donald.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Larry Thomas, Jerry Thomas (Lynette), Terry L. Thomas (Cindy), Wanda Brown Lane (Kevin) and Amanda Brown Rosser (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Wayne Thomas (Leann), Jeremy Thomas (Julie), Brian Thomas (Krista), Sara Thomas, Alicia Thomas, Tina Thomas Kushmon (Bob), Patricia Thomas Edwards (Billy), Terry L. Thomas Jr., Joseph P. Thomas, Leslie Moore, Melissa Brown, James Barnette (Candice), Jayna Barnette (Jason Phillips), Garrett Poole (Harley) and Kaylie Poole; his cousin Flora Nell Adkins Jones; and his nieces and nephews, Judy Mills Corcoran, Cheryl Mills Amos, Steven White, Wesley White and Gregory Wilson. He is also survived by forty great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
