He was predeceased by: his parents, Andy Birt Carson and Eunice Bell Knowles Carson. He is survived by: his son Joel; his wife Myra Carson; his daughters, Kimberly Minix of Warner Robins and Amber Carter (Michael Carter, Jr.) of Bonaire; his sister Jane Mercado of Byron; his grandchildren, Andrea, Alyssa Minix and Joel Carter; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Logan Railey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's and Dementia research of Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
