He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Alton Ussery and Eileen Logan Ussery. He is survived by: his wife Linda Carol Johns Ussery of Byron; and his children, Gene A. Ussery, Jr. (Samantha) of Knoxville and Candi Ussery Kemp (Joey) of Gray. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
