It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Byers of Byron, Georgia, born in Macon, Georgia, who passed away on November 20, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Sherman Byers and Kathryn Gillman Byers; his son Tony Sweat; his grandson Chris Lewis; and his siblings, Sherman Byers and Janis Kyger.
He is survived by: his wife Janette Byers; his daughters, Kathy Welch (Johnny), Cindy Grinsted (Gary), Lynn Aultman (Kevin) and Angie Heberlig (Gary); his grandchildren, Joel Lewis (Kelli), Brandon Lewis (Tiffany), Brittany Taylor (Josh), Alicia Grinsted, Blane Grinsted (Rachel), Matt Lewis, Joel Aultman, Jacob Aultman, Faith Morgan Hall, Dylan Hall, Mark Heberlig and Lacy Heberlig; and his sister Gwen Westbrook (Claude). He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, friend "Lil Bit"; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
