She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus H. Blackwell and Dorothy Bigham Blackwell; and her brothers, Paul Harden Blackwell and Gene Franklin Blackwell. She is survived by: her husband Donald G. Thornton Jr.; her sons, Donald G. Thornton III (Carla) of Canton and Ryan Hardin Thornton (Heather) of Athens, Georgia; her grandchildren, Tessa Backer, Luke Thornton, Alexander Thornton and Amelia Thornton; and her brother James L. Blackwell (Tammy) of Chapin, S. C.. She is also survived by nieces, cousins, great-nephews.
