He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Mattes; his children, James "Jim" Edward Vaughan (Missie) of Winston-Salem, NC, Diana Vaughan Konkle (Mitch) of Milton, GA and Katherine "Kathy" Vaughan Schwab (Tommy) of Dacula, GA; and his grandchildren, Stephanie Caligiuri, Mitchel, George Curren Vaughan II, Ansley Konkle, Alexa Schwab and Lydia.
