He was predeceased by: his parents-in-law, Hulon and Peggy Teague Garner. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Garner Lail; his sons, Chad and Jack Lail; his sister-in-law Stephanie Humphrey (Brandy); his parents, Charlie Lail and Carol Lail; and his siblings, Chris Lail (Karla), Patrick Lail (Charlotte) and Betsy Fitzhenry (Dave). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the West Point Association of Graduates, the American Brain Tumor Foundation, or Georgia Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries.
