He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Chalkley and Pearl Welch Chalkley; his wife June Elder Chalkley; and his brother Andrew Inman Chalkley. He is survived by: his daughters, Pamela Chalkley DeLapp of Buena Vista, GA and Jana Chalkley Martin (Matt) of Fortson, GA; his grandchildren, Colton Lee DeLapp, Reese Lydia Martin and Rylie Louise Martin; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Chalkley; and his brothers, Leon Elder, Eddie Elder (Peggy), Joe Elder (Shirley), Melvin Collins, Ben Elder (Missy), Danny Elder (Laurel) and John Elder.
A graveside service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery (687 GA-30, Buena Vista, GA 31803).
