He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Fred Barnes and Flora Bell Adkinson Barnes; his wife Sarah Dean Barnes; his daughter Myra Wood; his grandchildren, Rebecca Barnes and Bradlee Barnes; his great grandchild Savannah Wood; and his siblings, Colin, Jerry, James Barnes and Deborah Barnes.

He is survived by: his sons, Tim Barnes (Cindy) of Palmetto, GA and Jeffrey Barnes (Lisa) of Buena Vista, GA; his grandchildren, Christine Teate (Samuel) of Mauk, GA, Matthew Wood (Brandy) of Columbus, GA and Jeffrey Barnes, Jr. of Columbus, GA; and his great grandchildren, Ashley Roberson (Caleb), Amberlynn Hernandez, Noah Miller, Jasper Wood and Peyton Wood.
