He was predeceased by: his father Harold Douglas Pope, Jr.; his uncle Rickey Pope; his nephew Wesley Carter Owens; his grandparents, Harold Douglas Pope, Sr., Dottie "Grandmommy" Pope, Eugene Elliott Carter and Bill Taffer; and his brother Brian Applequist.

He is survived by: his mother Charlotte Carter Pope (Gary); his children, Drew Pope, Drake Pope and Delaney Gilliam (Ryder); and his siblings, Jeanne Smith (Angela), Ashley Melton (Shawn), Jonathan Owens, Mandy Applequist, Daniel Owens, Kevin Pope and Lori Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Henry County Uniformed Firefighters Relief Fund in memory of Shannon.

“I believe that this is a young man who shared (talked) about his mom who was robbed in Buckhead Ga. My family is very familiar Buckhead and Atlanta GA. Has the funeral already happened? I live in Pensacola FL and unfortunately my Daddy passed away in January of last year. I want to send something if not. I need the address to the funeral home if possible 😪”
