It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Merritt of Buchanan, Georgia, born in Cedartown, Georgia, who passed away on February 10, 2024, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lucas Merritt and Nora Matthews Merritt; his wife Donna "Starr" Barnett Merritt; his brother Ronnie Merritt; and his brother-in-law Jerry Gurley.
He is survived by: his children, Caitlin Keller (Jon) and Zach Merritt (Kelsey); his granddaughter Anna Kate Merritt; and his siblings, Scottie Merritt, Barry Gibbs, Darlene Gurley and Tammy Pointer (Jason). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that flowers please be omitted, and memorial contributions can be made to Smith & Miller Funeral Home to assist with expenses.
