She was predeceased by: her parents, William Harvey Jewell, Sr. and Doris Irene Jewell (Davis); and her brothers, Bill Jewell, Danny Jewell, Bobby Jewell and Michael Jewell.

She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Taft; her sons, Kenneth Anthony and Eric Matthew; her close friends, James Israel and Traci Wooten; her brothers, John Jewell and Allen Jewell; and also, Tammy Walker and Alice Hamilton. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift in her honor to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
