He is survived by: his children, April Herndon Kitchens (Michael James) of Waycross and John Phillip Herndon, Jr. of Waycross; his grandchildren, Phillip Ray Kitchens, John Phillip "Jep" Herndon III, Sarah Beth James and Baylee Layne; his stepdaughter Renna Wells; his stepgrandchildren, Tyler and Chance Wells; his brother Jeff Herndon (Lisa) of Shellman Bluff, GA; his nephew Jeffrey Herndon, Jr.; and his niece Kricket Franklin.
