He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Marie Tankersley; and his parents, Edward W. Tankersley Sr. and Afton Willoughby Tankersley. He is survived by: his children, Edward W. "Tank" Tankersley III (Deidra) of Brunswick, GA and Brenda Faye Tankersley Bennett (Greg) of Brunswick, GA; his sisters, Gail Tankersley of Brunswick, GA, Cheryl DePew (Alan) of Garrett, IN and Rose Moldenhauer (Craig) of Encinitas, CA; his grandchildren, Kristen M. Sheffield (Joshua), David G. Bennett, Amber D. Tankersley, Stephen Floyd, Gracyn N. Bailey and W. Trent Tankersley; and his great grandchildren, Fayelynn Marie Sheffield and Maddox Mitchell Sweeney.
