He was predeceased by: his parents, Lenza Fletcher Armistead and Mary Lois Armistead (Morrow); and his brother Philip Eugene Armistead. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Armistead; his children, Kim Michele Armistead of Martha Jo, Armistead Wright, Lindsey Joseph Armistead, Jr. (Kimberly), Clifford Thomas Brannon (Debra) and James David Brannon, Jr. (Teresita); and his siblings, Fletcher Armistead and Sherry Higginbotham. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.
