She was predeceased by: her parents, George Gates and Georgia Gates; and her brother Benny Gates. She is survived by: her spouse Lavon Newman of Brooklet; her son Randy; her daughter-in-law Theresia Newman of Brooklet; her daughter Vonda Newman of Brooklet; her grandchildren, Jeanette Lafond (Robert) of Brooklet, Mary Welch (Joe) of Maine and Becca Newman of Brooklet; her close friends, Barbara Lanier, Elaine Morris, Polly Johnson and Faye Chalker; her friend Donna Greenway; and also Gwen Logan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
