He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Mae Vail (Carpenter) and Robert Joel Vail; and his wife Patricia Jean Ashall. He is survived by: his pet Pal; his daughters, Julie Barnes, Wendy Jacobson and Dr. Amy Vail; his sons-in-law, Gary Barnes and Tom Walsh; his grandsons, Alan Jacobson Christine Smith and Gabriel Rowe; his grandson-in-law Paul Smith; his great grandchildren, Theo Jacobson and Wyatt Smith; and his brothers, Gene Vail and Jan Vail.
