He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary K. Zogorski Janis and Edward J. Janis; his children, Patricia Moore and Edward Janis; his siblings, Richie Janis, Virginia Bohelien and Mary Byers; and his grandson Ray Rosamonda.

He is survived by: his wife Ella Oliver Janis; his children, Paula Layton of Florida and Lynetta Hill (Clifford) of Alabama; his siblings, Georgeann Foltz of Ohio, Barbara Borrows of Ohio, Gloria Sanchez of Florida and George Janis of Ohio; and his sister-in-law Elayne Lowe (Geoffrey). He is also survived by six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hightower Funeral Home (318 Gordon St, Bremen, GA 30110). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 23rd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Pepetual Help Catholic Church (210 Old Center Point Rd, Carrollton, GA 30117).
