He was predeceased by: his parents, H. C. Nichols and Marion Nichols; his wife Shirley Nichols; his sons, Jerry and Tom E. Nichols; and his great grandchild Max Thomas Scanlon.

He is survived by: his sons, Mark, Brad and Scott Nichols; his grandchildren, Jayne, Cassandra, Robert, Mary Beth, Brian and Renee; and his great grandchildren, Marnie Cassandra, Grace, Adeline, Luke, Briar, Mila and Layla.
