He was predeceased by: his parents, Hiram McGinnis and Marie McGinnis; and his wife Shirley Long. He is survived by: his children, Doug McGinnis (Teri), Cindy Kirksey (John) and Brad McGinnis (Teshia); and his grandchildren, Erin, Kelly, Will, Allison, Richard, Molly, Quinn and Lydia. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
