He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Powell and Jean Nelson Hattaway. He is survived by: his daughters, Anna Scott (Matt) and Abby Hattaway; his grandchildren, Cole, Sawyer and Ali Scott; his siblings, Nelson Hattaway (Libby), Julie Hinson (Robert) and Cliff Hattaway (Denise); the mother of his children Diane Fendley; and his friend Lodge Holman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bluffton Baptist Church, Georgia Hospice Care, or Samaritan's Purse.
