He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Carlton and Isabel Allison Carlton; his former wife Alice Gail Carlton; and his son Thomas Allen Morgan (Dara). He is survived by: his wife Martha Nell Carlton; his children, Stephen Maurice Carlton (Susie) of Orlando, Mark Edward Carlton (Maureen) of Washington Cross, Todd Ingram Carlton (Sally), Michael Scot Morgan (Veronica), Dr. Jeffrey Paul Morgan (Claire) and Paula Carroll (Tim); his stepsons, Clint Smith (Cami) and Mark Smith (Amy); and his brother Daniel Allison Carlton (Chee). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Appalachian Hospice.
