He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelby Ruth Nix Dyer and Samuel Nathan Dyer; his father-in-law John Hoyt Hamby; his brother Douglas Dyer; his grandparents, Paul, Ellen Nix and Pearl Dyer Collins; and his siblings-in-law, Royce Hughes, William Sparks and Peggy Bryson.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Hamby Dyer; his son Stacy Dyer (Diane); his granddaughter Lindsey Runkle (Derrick); his great grandchild Mason Lee Runkle; his siblings, Muriel Dyer Hughes, Kathy Hood (Calvin) and Tony Dyer (Andrea); and his mother-in-law Sue Stephens Hamby.
