He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Schmid; his children, Laura Pollock (Todd), Matthew Schmid (Beth), Michael Schmid (Michelle) and Leah Dietrich (Eric); his grandchildren, Kate Miles (Paul), Alexis Schmid and Nikolaus "Nik" Dietrich; his great grandchild Caleb Miles; and his sister Carolyn Sherman.
