He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Colwell and Edna Colwell; and his brother Vaughn Colwell. He is survived by: his son Reid; his wife Dora McCarter Colwell; his daughter Paige Colwell Swartz; his son-in-law Toby Swartz; his son Joe Colwell; his daughter-in-law Rhonda Dyer Colwell; his brother Haskin Colwell; and his sister-in-law Austine Plott Colwell.
