He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Compton and Sally Counts Compton; and his brothers, Paul Raymond Compton and Dave Compton. He is survived by: his wife Carol Compton; his daughters, Michelle Niemi (Eric), Jamie Marie Compton and Tara Lauren Compton; his siblings, Carole Robinson, Walter Compton, Jr. and William "Bill" Compton; and his grandchildren, Nicolas Niemi, Max Niemi, Elice Molgren, Orion Evers, Sully Rhoden, Isley Rhoden, Harley Rhoden and Kayden Bunker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church of Blairsville or to one of the many Veterans organizations.
