He is survived by: his wife Susan Nix of Spencer; his sons, Jeff Nix of Blairsville and Andy Cheek; his sister Charlotte Collins of Blairsville; and his grandchildren, Sydney Michelle Cheek of Spencer and Michael Bryan Cheek of Spencer.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in John's memory.
