He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearl Murphy and Katherine Patterson Murphy; his granddaughter Bessie Kathleen Murphy; and his siblings, Joey Murphy and Virginia Payne.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Headrick Murphy of Blairsville; his children, Patrick Murphy of Borger, TX., Russell (Jammie Murphy), Tami (Dwayne Stroud) and Amanda (Keith Richey); and his siblings, Danny (Jean Murphy) of Blairsville, Wendall (Darlene Murphy) of Blairsville, Harold Murphy of Blairsville, Carolyn (Randall Aycoth) and Shirley Jones of Marietta.

Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Mr. Murphy's memory.
