He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Matthew Brown and Alice Spurrier (Brown); his wife Leta Brown; his granddaughter Mary Megan East; and his siblings, John Bryan Spurrier, Robert Willard Spurrier, Marilyn Bernice Van Buskirk and Mary Alice Praskievicz.
He is survived by: his children, Sharron Gayle Woodlief, Rev. Nina Kate "Katie" Strals, Dr. Rosemary Frederickson, Elizabeth "Ellen" Livingston and Nolen Glenn Brown. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
