He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Carlton and Lois Turner Carlton; and his brother John Paul Carlton. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Saul Carlton; his son D. J.; his daughter-in-law Amanda Carlton of Blairsville; and his daughters, Jenny Stevens of Blairsville and Naomi (Chris King).
