He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Whitney and Ruth Kelly Whitney; and his siblings, Marty Whitney, Ruthie Hassell and Trudy Townsend.
He is survived by: his wife June Whitney of Blairsville; his daughter Jenny; his son-in-law Michael Bland of Round Rock, TX; his son Scott; his daughter-in-law Crystal Whitney of Blairsville; his siblings, David (Janet Whitney), Stephen (Brenda Whitney), Lee Whitney of Houma and Teenie; his brother-in-law Ed King of Houma; and his grandchildren, Connor, Lorelei, Elijah and Ophelia. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Flowers are accepted and the family appreciates plants, shrubs or trees to beautify the cemetery or donations to the American Cancer Society in Dan's memory.
