Vernie Young Jr. Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vernie Young Jr. (Blackshear, Georgia), who passed away on June 15, 2019 at the age of 64. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mothers, Leta Young and Doris Y. Manuel; his brothers, Vernon, Jr. and Frank Young; his wife Sheila Young of Blackshear; his children, Sonya Barrett of Blackshear, Carie Young of Jacksonville, Fla., Jamie Barrett (Jane) of Blackshear and Carlton "Keith" Barrett (Mandee) of Blackshear; his stepson Donald Smith (Kay) of Jacksonville, Fla.; his siblings, Linda Faye Young of Chatsworth, Barbara Ann Bell of St. George, Patricia Long of Ludowici and Edward Young, Sr. (Shirley) of Jacksonville, Fla.; his grandchildren, Cassie Vickers of Desiree Denison, C. J., Ansleigh, Andrew, Brianna, Trista, Mollie Barrett, Caitlyn Whalen, Nicholas, Michael McCarley and Mason Moody; and his close friend Barbara Matthews. He was also cherished by 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
