She was predeceased by: her parents, Dalton Albert and Alice Jewel Thornton; her husband John Edward Courson; her daughters, Anita Courson and Barbara Bullard; and her siblings, Vera May Thornton Johnson, Onie Thornton, Winnie Thornton Youmans, Owen Thornton, Quinton Thornton and Flem Thornton.

She is survived by: her daughter Sylvia Gale Spivey of Waycross; her son-in-law Garry Bullard, Sr. of Patterson; her grandchildren, Sandra Youmans Roberts (Lester) of Blackshear, Michelle Bullard Cason of Jacksonville, Garry Bullard, Jr. (Shannon) of Patterson, Blake Spivey (Sabrina) of Douglas, Shana Spivey Harper (Clay) of Douglas and Leah Spivey Lee (Chris) of Vidalia; her great grandchildren, Anna Gail Roberts, Johnathan Bullard, Brittney Bullard, Nicholas Bullard, Destiny Prince (Joe), Simon Sheys, Elyse Spivey, Laurel Spivey, Deacon Harper, Zoe Lopez (Adrian), Ragan Watkins and Ansleigh Barrett; her siblings, Janie Johnson of Blackshear and Winton; her sister-in-law Wilma Thornton of Blackshear; and her close friends, Erica Fales, Jennifer Crews and Christy. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
