He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Oden and Gertrude Harper James; and his brother Larry Kent James. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Peek James of Blackshear; his children, Lance James (Pam) of Blackshear and Jennifer Strickland (Dan) of Waycross; his grandchildren, Jessica Richardson (Justin) of Blackshear, Jennifer Edwards (Blake) of Blackshear, J. T. James (Lyndssey) of Blackshear, Danny Strickland (Ryan Hunter) of Jacksonville and Katie Kuick (Devin) of Charlotte, N. C.; his great grandchildren, Christian Edwards (Jordan), Caden Edwards, Jackson Richardson, Logan Richardson, Emma Grace James, Micah James and Anna-Faith James; his great great grandchild Olivia Ann Edwards; and his sister Judy Harris of Blackshear. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel (210 Johnson St, Blackshear, GA 31516). A reception was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
