He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Avant and Allie Mae Clark King; his former wife Kyong King; and his siblings, Isabella King, Corrine Groce, Earnestine Jones, Tony King and Roy King.

He is survived by: his wife Gloria Herrin King of Blackshear; his daughter Lois Ann; his son-in-law Greg Rowland of Blackshear; his sons, Reggie Douberly of Blackshear, John Douberly of Blackshear and Calvin Douberly (Rose Daniel) of Blackshear; and his siblings, Alice Roberson (James) of Blackshear, Wanda Peacock of Blackshear, Sonya Tuten (Dewayne) of Blackshear, Geraldine Walley of Blackshear and Arnold King of Blackshear. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
