He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jack Shafer and Mary Morris Shafer; his wife Lisa Shafer; his children, Josh Kemerling (Jessica) of Monroe, Georgia, Chad Shafer (Andrea) of Winder, Cody Shafer (Jessica Elder) of Sugar Hill and Boogie F. Shafer of Concord; his brother Larry Shafer of Marion; and his grandchildren, Carsen Kemerling, Kaelyn Kemerling, Kerrigan Kemerling, Caydence Kemerling, Jhettson Rodney Shafer and Cali Shafer.

Flowers are welcomed, or memorials may be made to The Bethlehem Christian Academy, 544 Christmas Avenue, Bethlehem, Georgia 30620.
