He was predeceased by: his parents, David Edgar "Bud" Gilbert and Patricia Buchanan Gilbert; his wife Mary Lynn Seabolt Gilbert; his siblings, David Gilbert, Patricia Coleman and Virginia Gilbert; his grandson Allen Garvin; his great grandchildren, Emberlee Humphries and Rainlyn Helton; and his son-in-law Clifford Triplett.

He is survived by: his daughters, Christy Garvin (Gregory) of Maysville, Dawn Triplett of Commerce and Heather Helton (Adam) of Bethlehem; his siblings, Michael Gilbert (Rhonda) of Jefferson and Donna Muse of Cumming; and his siblings-in-law, Susan Gilbert and Curtis Coleman. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
