He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lehman Hobart Barfield and Jewel Iona Martin Barfield; his wife Mary Frances Davis Barfield; his former wife Connie Vanstory Barfield; and his siblings, Janice McAdams and Martin Hobart Barfield.
He is survived by: his daughter Misty Engelmann (Marc) of Dallas, TX; his stepdaughters, Tami Wainwright (Kip) of Baxley, Karen Davis (Jimmy) of Baxley, Shona Pate (Ike) of Baxley and Jennifer Clark of Nederland, TX; his son John F. Barfield (Becky) of Baxley; his stepson Phillip Richard of Orange, TX; his siblings, Hilda Armstrong (Kerry) of Perry, FL, Selma Sauls of Tallahassee, FL and Sidney Craig Barfield (Nancy) of Columbus, MS; his siblings-in-law, Margaret Barfield of Baxley, Melba Herrington of Baxley and Mickey Davis of Baxley; his former wife Marilyn Blum; and his grandchildren, Ryan Engelmann, Evan Engelmann, Jonah Engelmann, Trevor Pate, Trey Pate, Tristan Pate, Michael Davis, Ashley Wainwright, Amber Wainwright, Caitlin Brock and Ashton O'Hara. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Christ Community Church (1585 Hatch Pkwy N, Baxley, GA 31513). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
