He was predeceased by: his father John Lester "Reno" Carter. He is survived by: his mother Eleanor Baker Carter of Baxley; his siblings, Rena, Dennis "Bootsie" Morris of Wilson, LaDonna, Mike Hines of Four Oaks and Jody Linton of Baxley; his nieces and nephews, Savannah Hines, Carter Hines, Jake Carter and Jenna Carter; and also Michelle Nix Carter of Baxley.
