He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Woodrow Simmons and Winifred Waters Simmons; and his wife Judith Elaine Simmons. He is survived by: his children, Regina Rainwater (Richard) of Baxley, Sharon Sikes (Jimmy Dean) of Baxley and Jeffery Simmons (Rayann) of Baxley; his siblings, Rennae Griffin (Cohen) of Baxley and Lamar Simmons (Margaret) of Baxley; and his grandchildren, Tyler Rainwater (Joni), Shannon Merritt (Brent), Brooke Ellington (Caleb), Ashley O'Steen (Campbell), Holton Simmons and Harrison Simmons. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home (1632 Hatch Pkwy N, Baxley, GA 31513). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
